SUMMARY:MABUHAY PHILIPPINE FESTIVAL RETURNS TO NATHAN PHILLIPS SQUARE AUGUST 23 & 24
DESCRIPTION:TORONTO\, ON – The heart of the city will come alive as the Mabuhay Philippine Festival\, presented by the Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC)\, returns for its 27th year at Nathan Phillips Square on August 23–24\, 2025. As Toronto’s longest-running Filipino festival\, Mabuhay Festival is a vibrant celebration of the creativity\, resilience\, and cultural heritage of the Filipino-Canadian community through fashion\, music\, street-food\, visual art\, film and artisanal crafts. This year’s theme\, Bayanihan: Where Community Connects\, sets the tone for a weekend that honours collective strength\, cultural pride\, and shared stories. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nOne of this year’s most anticipated features is Filipino world-class fashion designer Francis Libiran\, who is known for blending intricate Filipino craftsmanship with modern haute couture. His work has been showcased at the Paris Olympics and on global runways and red carpets\, worn by celebrities including Darren Criss\, Gwen Stefani\, Priyanka Chopra\, and numerous Miss Universe titleholders. At Mabuhay Festival\, Libiran will debut an exclusive collection celebrating Filipino identity and excellence in global fashion – on an evening catwalk hovering over the reflecting pool in front of the iconic Toronto sign. \nNew to this year’s programming is the Mabuhay Arts & Film Exhibition\, a week-long cultural experience hosted at Toronto City Hall from August 18 to 23\, 2025\, open daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM in the foyer and Council Chambers. This indoor exhibit invites audiences to explore Filipino-Canadian identity through visual storytelling and film. \nThe curated exhibit will feature works by Filipino-Canadian alumni from OCAD University. On August 23\, the Toronto City Council Chambers will host SINÉ Institute’s 48-Hour Film Challenge finalist screenings\, along with a special showing of “A Will to Dream”\, a feature-length film by award-winning docu-filmmaker Patrick Alcedo on resilience and cultural identity in marginalized communities through dance. \n“This year’s expanded programming allows us to share deeper\, more personal stories of Bayanihan — of connection — from within our community.” says Tom Tan\, President of PIDC. “From the fashion runway to gallery walls to food\, music and film\, we’re celebrating how Filipino-Canadians continue to shape culture here in Canada and around the world\, highlighting our creativity\, resilience\, and pride. We invite everyone in Toronto and beyond to join us in this celebration of unity and the shared spirit of Bayanihan.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Mabuhay Philippine Festival is free to attend and welcomes all communities to join in this celebration of Filipino heritage\, creativity\, and pride — through this year’s theme of “Bayanihan: Where Community Connects\,”

SUMMARY:Steveston Salmon Festival the place to be on July 1
DESCRIPTION:By City of Richmond \nOne of Canada’s longest running and most popular community events\, the annual Steveston Salmon Festival\, is back on Tuesday\, July 1. \nA fun-filled\, family-oriented day of food\, music\, performances and more is again presented by the City of Richmond\, Steveston Community Society and Richmond Agricultural and Industrial Society across Steveston Village. \nThis is the 78th year of the popular one day neighbourhood-wide celebration which begins at 9:30am with the Kids Bike Parade. That is followed by the official Canada Day Parade from 10:00am to noon\, starting at Garry Point Park and ending at Moncton Street and Railway Avenue. \nA major highlight of the festival is the Salmon Bake\, which is just one of many culinary delights for visitors to experience. A pancake breakfast starts at 8:00am in the Steveston Community Centre parking lot at 4111 Moncton Street\, and food trucks will be located throughout the festival to provide numerous culinary options all day. And\, of course\, the annual Steveston Salmon Festival would not be what it is without the classic offerings of Japanese-Canadian Chow Mein. \nTwo music zones will offer live performances at the festival from noon to 7:00pm. Among them is the popular Vancouver party bands Ten Souljers and Aristo-Cats\, along with the iconic and multi-faceted six-piece Canadian dance band Dr. Strangelove. Powerhouse dance troupe The Lolas as well as a variety of roving entertainers and performers\, including jugglers and stilt walkers\, will keep crowds amused around the village throughout the day. \nNew and returning programs for this 78th annual festival include: \n\nThe Japanese Cultural Show with demonstrations and performances\nSammy’s Fun Zone where younger attendees can experience face painting\, interactive games and button making\nA Youth Zone with music and games\nAn Art Show featuring local artists and their work\nPrograms and exhibits at the Steveston Museum and Post Office\, the Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site and the Gulf of Georgia Cannery\n\nTo learn more about this year’s festival\, visit stevestonsalmonfest.ca. \nAbout the Steveston Salmon Festival\nThe Steveston Salmon Festival began as a July 1 “Sports Day” themed event\, which was held as a fundraiser to build a playground in Steveston Park in 1944. Today\, it is one of the largest non-profit driven Canada Day celebrations in the country. There have been a myriad of changes since 1946 such as the parade route and\, more notably\, a name change from the Richmond Salmon Queen Carnival to Steveston Salmon Festival. While the selection of a Salmon Queen ended in 1986\, other elements such as the salmon bake have remained.  The Steveston Salmon Festival pays homage to the community’s salmon fishing heritage\, and the dedication of the citizens of Steveston still drives “Canada’s biggest little birthday party” each year.

SUMMARY:RISE Tribe Kicks Off Filipino Heritage Month With A Youth Empowerment Event and Space For Collective Healing
DESCRIPTION:TORONTO\, ON – To celebrate Filipino Heritage Month\, RISE Tribe will take over Bevy (738 Dundas Street E.) for the 2nd annual RISE UP: TULAYAN\, an immersive full-day event for young Filipinos from the Greater Toronto Area. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn June 7th\, starting at 11:00 A.M. RISE Tribe will uplift Filipinos in the community and provide Filipino youth a space to connect with their roots and share their lived experiences. RISE UP: TULAYAN was created to help the new generation of Filipino youth chart their path in life through mentorship programs\, workshops\, and community events. \n\n\nIn light of the recent tragedy in Vancouver\, RISE Tribe emphasizes the urgent need for connection within the Filipino community. Despite being one of the largest Asian-Canadian groups\, Filipinos often lack shared cultural spaces. RISE Tribe aims to support healing and foster lasting bonds among nearly one million Filipino-Canadians.\n\n“We’re excited to weave a tapestry of learning\, connection\, and celebration\,” Dee de Lara\, Co-Director of RISE UP: TULAYAN. “This event is not just about honouring our heritage; it’s about empowering our youth to shape their own narratives and create a future they’re proud of.”\n\n“Tulayan” meaning to bridge or connect in many Philippine languages\, is the theme of this year’s RISE UP: TULAYAN. Following the 2024 event’s powerful call for connection across generations\, this year focuses on bridging Filipino youth in the GTHA to each other\, to elders\, and to their cultural roots. Through interactive workshops and meaningful discussions\, RISE UP: TULAYAN invites participants to celebrate curiosity\, empathy\, and community.\n\n“With RISE Tribe\, our focus was to broaden the career paths of Filipino-Canadian youth. With full respect to the traditional roles\, we provide the tools for our community to turn their passions and potential into successful\, non-traditional careers\,” said Abby Albino\, Co-Founder of RISE Tribe. “Events like RISE UP create space for us to explore those possibilities\, while also helping Filipinos across the GTHA find a much-needed community. It’s not just about inspiration—it’s about building networks\, sharing resources\,\nand knowing we’re not alone in forging new paths.\n\nRISE TRIBE Presents: RISE UP: TULAYAN\nWHERE: Bevy\, 738 Dundas Street East\, Toronto\nDATE: June 7th\, 2025\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTIME: 11 A.M to 4 P.M

SUMMARY:Compassion in Action
DESCRIPTION:A Tribute Fundraiser for LapuLapu Affected Families \nan evening of music\, memory and meaning. \nFREE ADMISSION EVENT (donation encouraged and will be posted publicly\, on donors permission)Background:The LapuLapu tragedy on April 26th has impacted nine Surrey families\, eight are Filipino families\, six families are with ties to active members of our organization\, Surrey Philippine Independence Day Society (SPIDS). We sadly have three fatalities\, seven seriously injured (five are all still in hospital)\, and seven traumatized survivors. Our President\, Narima Dela Cruz\, and other officers have been in touch with each of the impacted families and/or their representatives from the onset of the incident. Our focus from the get go has been to provide support and assistance to the affected families.Due to the Society’s well-respected record of having successfully done credible fundraisers in the past – for various causes\, and 100% donated mostly through Canadian Red Cross and other charitable organizations\, plus the encouragement from the supportive Surrey communities\, SPIDS will be doing a Tribute Fundraiser on May 24th at the Surrey Civic Plaza. SPIDS is grateful to the City of Surrey for their support on this event. All pertinent details are still being finalized and will be shared to the public in the next few days. 100% proceeds will be turned over to beneficiaries\, and these will be inclusive\, not only for Surrey families but all affected\, which also include the organizer of the LapuLapu Festival\, Filipino BC’s fundraiser through United Way and Canadian Red Cross. The Tribute Fundraiser will be a free admission event and are supported by various non profit and community organizations including\, as of this date\, the Metis Nation British Columbia\, Islamic Relief Canada\, Lakshmi Narayan Mandir\, South Asian Community Hub (SACH)\, Surrey Food Bank\, Progressive Intercultural Community Services (PICS)\, Surrey Hospice Society\, Times of Canada\, Global Peace Alliance BC\, Kids Play Foundation\, Friends of Pakistan Canada Association\, White Rock Muslim Association\, Pashtoon Cultural Association of BC\, Molana Tariq Hamil Foundation\, Muslim Food Bank Community Service\, We are One Society\, Fraser Valley Neighborhood Association\, British Columbia Bereavement Helpline (BCBH)\, Kabangka Canada -the national association of young Filipino Canadians\, and the Canada-wide Filipino Canadian National Congress. Many business organizations are also coming along to support. \n order doryx online in the best USA pharmacy https://health.royalcitydrugs.com/order-doryx.html no prescription with fast delivery drugstore \nMore information will be posted soon. \n order tizanidine online in the best USA pharmacy https://health.royalcitydrugs.com/order-tizanidine.html no prescription with fast delivery drugstore
