Saskatoon police investigate another threat tied to suspicious packages

SASKATOON –There’s been another threat associated with a series of suspicious packages being investigated by Saskatoon police.

On Tuesday morning, emergency crews were called to reports of a bomb at Aden Bowman Collegiate Institute, a high school.

A letter sent to parents by principal Paul Humbert said police were called immediately after an emailed threat said there was a “potential explosive device” in the school.

The threat was determined to be low-level with no risk to staff and students, and classes weren’t disrupted as police investigated.

Police confirmed Tuesday afternoon the bomb threat was connected to the recent white powder scares in the city.

They said since April 11, five Saskatoon businesses have received threats suggesting an explosive device was in the building.

Alexa Emerson, also known as Amanda Totchek, has been in custody since April 11 and faces 69 charges in the case.

She has a bail hearing set for May 9.

Police said they’re not seeking another suspect, but they are still looking for a woman who sent a video to local media claiming she was involved.
