MANILA (PNA) — Malacanang on Sunday chose not to comment on the issue of pork barrel scam whistleblower Benhur Luy’s asking the Manila Regional Trial Court to lift the freeze order on his assets.

Luy reportedly insisted that his assets were legally acquired while working under the employ of alleged pork scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles.

His motion for reconsideration indicated that there is no direct proof that the amounts in Luy’s bank account came from illegal sources.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte in an interview over state-run dzRB Radyo ng Bayan, however said that the matter should be properly resolved by the court with jurisdiction.

“We won’t give comments on that because (critics) might say that we are either favoring (Luy) or not siding with him. It is better that the courts make the decision,” Valte said.

The spokesperson further said that any person who comes to the court is free to put forth any statements of support for his petition. She added that Luy’s motion was expected.

“Let us just await what the court ruling will be,” Valte said. (PNA) CTB/ANP
