Speaking at a joint news conference after their meeting at the White House, Trump also said he does not believe in isolationism with regard to trade, but that he wants “fair” trade he believes will benefit American workers and industry.
Merkel said she told Trump that Germany is committed to meeting a target for members of the North Atlantic Treaty Alliance to allocate 2 percent or more of gross domestic product to defense spending
