SolGen commends Duterte Youth ‘firm stand’ amid EDSA anniversary rift

MANILA –Solicitor General Jose C. Calida on Monday commended the members of Duterte Youth for “standing for what they believe in,” during their confrontation with singer-composer Jim Paredes during the commemoration rites of the 31st anniversary of the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution on Saturday.

Calida presented to the media the the nine members of the Duterte Youth who had a tiff with Paredes.

Calida said he invited them “because we are supporting them as part of the defender of the Republic of the Philippines as he reiterated that the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) is “the republic’s defender.”

Ronald Caderna, head of the Duterte Youth, for his part said that they are grateful to Calida for inviting them since they “look up to you because you are really defending the republic.”

During the press conference, Atty. Lorenzo Galon will provide free legal counsel for Duterte Youth as they will file unjust vexations against Paredes.

In the same press conference, Calida also announced that they will also file a case against Senator Antonio Trillianes for cuddling a self-confessed criminals.

”Give me more time and I will have the proper case to be filed against him,” Calida told reporters adding questioned why Trillanes “coddling and hiding confessed criminals.”

He cited retired Senior Police Officer 3 Arthur Lascañas and Edgar Matobato, both confessed members of the Davao death squad who admitted killing criminals and accused Duterte as their principal when he was still city mayor.

“How can you believe the statement of a perjurer? They should have been arrested first. Is this the job of a senator?” he pointed out.

Trillanes and Senator Leila De Lima, the two are very vocal critic of the administration of President Duterte.
