MANILA (PNA) — The Metro Rail Transit (MRT) has coordinated with Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) in conducting a dry-run of the articulated bus which is set to ply on selected routes on Wednesday, May 7.

The articulated bus will travel from MRT North EDSA station in Quezon City to MRT Taft station in Pasay this week.

The dry-run aims to determine whether the articulated bus could be a better alternative mode of transportation in EDSA.

The bus has three stops in MRT stations namely: Buendia, Ayala, and Taft. It will exclusively serve MRT southbound passengers.

“With the cooperation of other public and private organizations, we aim to resolve the inconvenience being suffered by our commuters while they are traveling to their respective destinations on a daily basis,” LTFRB Chairman Atty. Winston Ginez said.

The articulated bus will pass through the EDSA Underpass and overpass, make stops at Buendia, Ayala, and Taft stations, and turn at SM Mall of Asia rotunda before the last stop near NAIA Terminal 2.

MRT has a rated capacity of 350,000 passengers per day, but services an average of 500,000 passengers daily.

“Through this articulated bus, we could provide a temporary solution on the congestion in MRT stations while we are waiting for the delivery of new train coaches,” Ginez said. (PNA) LAM/JDM
