PNP-CIDG nabs suspect in robbery-holdup, possession of illegal drugs
MANILA –The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has arrested a suspect in a robbery-holdup incident and illegal possession of illegal drugs in Quezon City.
Investigation report submitted by Supt.
Lawrence Cajipe, Anti-Organized Crime Unit (AOCU) chief, to CIDG chief Director Roel Obusan, said that detectives from the AOCU while on board Mahindra mobile Patrol along E. Rodriguez Ave. corner Katipunan Ave., Barangay Libis, Quezon City was flagged down by two female who claimed that they were victims of robbery-holdup by two male suspects with the use of a knife on Tuesday afternoon.
The suspects fled on board another passenger jeep bound in the direction of Cubao, Quezon City.
Acting on the complaint of the victims, the detectives immediately chased the suspects that resulted to the arrest of one of the suspects identified as Leonardo Manangan, 23, jobless and a resident of Harvard St.
, Cubao, Quezon City, while the other eluded arrest and took the iphone 4S of victim Mayann Dumaguit.
A cellular phone owned by one of the victims identified as Diosa Esguerra and one bladed weapon were recovered from the suspect’s possession.
Victims Esguerra, 26, single, call center agent, and Mayann Dumaguit positively identified the suspect as one of the two suspects who announced the holdup inside the passenger jeep that they boarded from Eastwood bound to Cubao.
The suspect was apprised of his constitutional rights and opted to remain silent before he was brought to the AOCU for documentation and proper disposition.
During the body search of the suspect, arresting officers SP03 Elmer Lipata and P02 Donald Moratalla discovered a plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu.
Cases of robbery-holdup and for violation of Section 11 of Republic Act No.
9165, or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002”, will be filed against the suspect.
