MANILA—Malacanang congratulated on Monday Iris Mittenaere of France for winning the Miss Universe 2016 Pageant held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
“People of France are rejoicing. Truly, this is a proud moment for their country.
Our best wishes to the 65th Miss Universe,” Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella said in a press statement.
Miss Haiti Raquel Pelissier and Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar finished first and second runners-up, respectively.
“Iris brought tremendous joy to her people by representing France as well on the international stage with her winning grace, regal bearing and inspiring answer. She has won not only the nod of the judges but the affection of the entire word as well,” Abella said.
The Palace official also congratulated Maria Mika Maxine Medina of the host Philippines for making it to the Top 6.
“She represented the Philippines well in the international scene,” Abella said.
