195 PNP personnel confirmed positive of drug use –PNP Crime Lab Service
MANILA –The Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory Service (CLS) on Tuesday said a total of 195 PNP personnel have been confirmed positive of the use of illegal drugs since January last year up to Jan. 17 this year.
PNP CLS director Chief Supt. Aurelio Trampe, Jr., in a press conference in Camp Crame, Quezon City on Tuesday, said of the 195 personnel that have been confirmed positive of illigal drugs use specifically “methamphetamine hydrochloride” or “shabu”, 188 of them are uniformed personnel and 7 are non-uniformed personnel (NUP).
Trampe said a total of 167,852 PNP personnel had undergone “mandatory drug testing” for the one-year period.
Majority of the 188 policemen who are positive of shabu use came from Region 4A (Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon), followed by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
In the record of the PNP CLS, the rank of Chief Inspector is the highest rank among those who were confirmed positive of illegal drugs use, while Police Officer 1 (PO1) is the lowest rank.
Majority of the 188 policemen positive of shabu use have already been dismissed from the service while the rest are currently undergoing “pre-charge evaluation” of the PNP Internal Affairs Service (IAS)
