Ejercito to LP senators: Stay or leave ‘supermajority’
MANILA –Sen. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito on Tuesday asked senators belonging to the Liberal Party (LP) to make a decision whether to stay in the Senate supermajority bloc or transfer to the minority.
Ejercito made this remark after noticing how the LP senators usually voted against the majority bloc in making decisions in plenary sessions.
All five of the LP senators namely Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino, Leila de Lima, Franklin Drilon, Risa Hontiveros, and Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan joined the majority bloc.
“They’re the majority but most of the time they vote against the majority,” Ejercito told reporters in an interview.
“You cannot just go on that…join the benefits of being in the majority but on the same time we are also attacking and hitting and going against the majority.”
He said that the lines should be drawn in terms of the LP senator’s membership in the majority bloc.
The senator meanwhile reiterated support for Pres. Rodrigo Duterte and Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, both members of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) party.
