LEGAZPI CITY—The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) of Albay suspended classes from pre-school to high school Wednesday due to continuous rains in the province.

PDRRMC chairman and Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara said classes have been suspended due to heavy rains pelting the province since last night.

The Legazpi station of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration forecast that moderate to heavy rains would persist throughout the day and may cause mudflows and floodings, especially near river channels, and landslides in mountainous areas.

“Avoid crossing rivers and artificial pool of waters, landslides and flood-prone areas,” said Bichara.

He said the suspension of classes include the junior and senior high schools in both public and private schools while the suspension of classes in the college level shall be subject to the decision of the respective school administrators.
