Bataan Representative Geraldine Roman on Monday was recognized as one of the Top 100 Leading Global Thinkers by American publication Foreign Policy.

Roman received the award for being the “first openly transgender politician” in a conservative country like the Philippines.

Other notable personalities recognized by Foreign Policy magazine include former U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-Wen and former U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Also in the list is Philippine senator Leila De Lima who was recognized by Foreign Policy for “standing up to an extremist leader.”

Foreign Policy’s Top 100 Leading Global Thinkers have “subverted traditional power structures to craft solutions to social, economic and environmental problems.”
