David Foster Wallace’s estate says it opposes biopic ‘The End of the Tour’

LOS ANGELES – The family of David Foster Wallace is objecting to the upcoming film “The End of the Tour,” which is based on David Lipsky’s 2010 book that recounts accompanying Wallace on a book tour.

Wallace’s estate said in a news release issued Monday that it has no connection to the film and doesn’t endorse it.

The book is titled “Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip with David Foster Wallace.” In it, Lipsky recounts going on tour with the author best known for his 1996 novel “Infinite Jest.”

“The End of the Tour” is written by Donald Margulies, directed by James Ponsoldt, and stars Jason Segel as Wallace and Jesse Eisenberg as Lipsky.

The film is produced by Anonymous Content and Kilburn Media domestically, with Sony handling international distribution.
