BI confirms hold departure order against Junjun Binay

MANILA—The Bureau of Immigration (BI) confirmed that there is hold departure order (HDO) issued against former Makati City mayor Junjun Binay.

With this, the former local chief executive is barred from leaving the country.

“Yes, there is a HDO against Mr. Junjun Binay issued by the Sandiganbayan,” she said.

The order was implemented on March 3 by Associate Commissioner Abdullah Mangotara.

“Apparently, we received it on March 3, and ordered its implementation on the same date,” she added.

Binay is facing graft charges before the Sandiganbayan in connection with the construction of the Makati City hall.
