“The Montgomery Bus Boycott: A Reflection of 60 Years,” opening Monday in the museum’s gallery, features photographs that explore how the city’s black community worked together to make the boycott successful, how it was reported in local newspapers and modern challenges regarding civil rights.

Parks was arrested on Dec. 1, 1955 after she refused to give her seat to a white passenger. Her arrest sparked the 381-day boycott of Montgomery buses by African Americans.

A second exhibit of artifacts related to Parks and the boycott will be exhibited from Nov.

30 through Dec. 4. The collection includes Parks’ fingerprint arrest record and a waiting room sign.
