Greg Slaughter focuses on PBA season, sets aside Gilas inclusion

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Despite of being part of the Gilas Pilipinas pool for next year’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament, Ginebra’s Greg Slaughter would rather focus on having a better play in 41st season of PBA.

The 6’11” Slaughter was asked on the possibility of tapping him to include in the 12-man team of coach Tab Baldwin for the berth to the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympics, he said, “I’m definitely keeping that in the back of my mind as the competition goes by.”

The King’s campaign is for the team’s center which fell off and having the team’s 86-78 loss against their rival Star in the opening game of SmartBro Philippine Cup.

Slaughter said he’ll definitely use the ongoing season of the league to tune himself up for the qualifiers set July 4-10 next year.

“I wanna use the PBA to always gets better and prepare myself for Gilas when the time comes,” he said in an interview with Spin.ph.

Slaughter showed off his skills in the King’s game against Hotshots, gained a score of 28 points on 12-of-18 shooting from the field, and grabbed 16 rebounds on top of four assists and a block of 39 minutes in a play.

Due to his efforts in the endgame, the King’s big man suffered cramps and got cured by a massage at the Ginebra’s bench.

Slaughter knows he’ll keep himself better after his first game of the season.
