PBA 41st Season opening cancelled due to typhoon ‘Lando’
MANILA – Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner Chito Narvasa announced on Sunday the cancellation of the opening of the PBA 41st Season due to typhoon “Lando.”
In an advisory, Narvasa said the season’s 3 p.m. opening game between Rain or Shine and Start Hotshots at the Smart Araneta Coliseum has been moved to Wednesday.
The league was supposed to hold its opening ceremonies on Sunday at 3 p.m., followed by a game between the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and the Star Hotshots.
“The PBA decided to postpone today’s opening due to bad weather. Instead, we shall have the formal opening on Wednesday with the same game to be played. The safety of our people is our priority,” Narvasa said.
The games originally set for Wednesday will be moved to a later date that is still to be announced, according to the media advisory.
