MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Former President Fidel V. Ramos belted out the government for its failure to give justice for 44 fallen members of the PNP Special Action Force.

Ramos showed his disappointment in the Department of Justice (DOJ) in identifying and bring into account for all the Muslim rebels and private groups behind the inhumane death of the PNP-SAF members during the Mamasapano misencounter.

At the launching of the “First FVR Golf Classic,” a fund-raising campaign by him together with a group of retired generals to help fund the schooling of orphaned children of the ‘Fallen 44, held at Camp Aguinaldo Golf Club, Ramos stated the issue yesterday, Oct.

“Maybe we are just being fooled. More so, they are fooling victims and their families. Where is the follow up? Suddenly, all announcements (on the progress of the case) have stopped. Is it because there are some new people coming in at the Department of Justice?” said Ramos, founder of the SAF, in a report by Jaime Laude in The Philippine Star.

The DOJ filed criminal cases against 90 members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF), and also the members of private armed groups, in which most of them are still unidentified.

Fidel V. Ramos, in a report by The Philippine Star, said in his Tweet to President Aquino that being the commander-in-chief, the President failed to maximize the government’s human resources – from the Malacañang down to the lowest level of governance, which is the Peace and Order Council – and his failure to identify the people behind the Mamasapano encounter.

Ramos also exclaimed that the DOJ could have secured the identity of the suspects if they asked for help and assistance from the local officials. The DOJ was said they are having difficulties of identifying the suspects because most of the MILF rebels are also identified as BIFF members.

FVr also added that most of the vigilantes of Maguindanao are know to be local executives – from barangay councilors, barangay captains, municipal councilors and mayors.
