MANILA – Terrence Romeo may not bring his “gunslinger ways” in the FIBA Asia Olympic qualifier as Gilas Pilipinas needed more of an effective point guard.

Although Gilas head coach Tab Baldwin remained impressed with Romeo’s skills, he still wanted a few changes to the great one-on-one player and scorer.

“I like him. I think Terrence has some X-factor qualities and I think he’s one of the most competitive guys we’ve got in the environment,” Baldwin said.

“Terrence is still a gunslinger, and that gets the fans excited… But that doesn’t get me excited. I want to win so that people in this country can get the thrill of playing in the Olympics [again],” he added.

Romeo would then have to improve as a point guard, especially with Jimmy Alapag still down with an injury and with Gabe Norwood and Matt Ganuelas-Rosser as off guards.

Meanwhile, Gilas Pilipinas recently entered seclusion which would last for five days as they prepare for the coming international games.
