MANILA – Still undefeated American boxer Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. is reportedly not considering a rematch with Filipino boxing icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao as he opts for easier fights prior retirement.

According to Mayweather’s father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., the American boxing champ’s fight in September this year may be his last one as he plans to retire soon after it.

“Floyd told me he just wants to get a couple of easy fights,” Mayweather Sr. said in an Mlive.com report.

If Mayweather does not change his decision, then a rematch with Pacquiao is ruled out as the latter is currently away from the ring this year.

The two boxers have fought in May in what has been dubbed as boxing’s richest fight, smashing revenue records in the sports’ history.

Mayweather has won the megabout via unanimous decision.

Shortly after the fight, Pacquiao has admitted that he endured a shoulder injury throughout the 12 rounds.

Some fans have then demanded for a rematch.

But still recovering from an operation on his right shoulder, Pacquiao is scheduled to return to the ring next year. By that time, Mayweather is already retired.

And even Mayweather Sr. wants his son to retire soon.

“My honest opinion, if he feels that way, he should get on out of the game… Anybody’s body, 20 years, anybody’s body gets tired – and it’s been every day of 20 years, and longer, for my son,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mayweather has already announced his next possible opponent who may either be Karim Mayfield or Andre Berto. The American boxer is 38 years old and still unbeaten with 48-0.
