MANILA — Citing his own sources, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV revealed that Senator Grace Poe has finally decided to run for President in next year’s polls.

In an interview for ABS-CBN News Channel’s (ANC) “Headstart,” Trillanes said that according to his sources, Poe will run for President with Sen. Francis Escudero as her Vice President.

Both of them will be running as independent, according to Trillanes.

“Based on the information we have, she (Poe) has made her decision to run for president with Sen. Chiz as her vice president and they’re going at it as independents so that’s their plan and we’ll just wait for a formal announcement which they will make probably in September,” Trillanes said.

Poe and Escudero have yet to formally announce if they will, indeed, run for the said posts in next year’s polls.

Escudero, earlier expressed interest in running for the Vice President post should he decide to run for a higher position in the 2016 elections.

Trillanes also added that he will pursue the Vice Presidential post even without the support of his group, the Nacionalista Party (NP).

He earlier said that he is 100 percent ready to run for Vice President, even if it would mean running against his co-senators who are rumored to run for the same post next year.

“I am 100 percent sure that I will run as vice president this 2016,” Trillanes said.

“Ever since I entered politics in 2007, I was never afraid of losing.”

“I believe I can accomplish many things. I don’t have a plan to grow old in politics. If we want change, we should aspire for change now. We have seen the problems of our country and we have seen that these are not being addressed,” the senator added.
