Solon reiterates UNA House members should leave majority coalition
MANILA — Caloocan City Rep. Edgar Erice stood path on Tuesday to his earlier call on all members of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) to resign from the majority bloc of the House of Representatives.
Erice said this after Vice President Jejomar Binay decided to resign from the Aquino Cabinet and openly criticized the administration.
The Liberal Party stalwart noted that there are nine UNA members in the House, all affiliated with the administration led by Assistant Majority Leader and Makati City Rep. Abigail Binay, daughter of the vice president.
The Caloocan City lawmaker said they all need to resign as members of the majority bloc.
Erice said UNA has no place in the majority if it is against the plans of the administration.
Politics of convenience, hindi puwedeng ganun,” Erice pointed out.
When asked about the claims of Navotas City Rep.
Toby Tiangco that there are LP members “who are planning to change colors and jump ship,” Erice denied it, saying that no one will leave the LP.
