The Bureau of Immigration has deported 115 Chinese nationals arrested during separate operations against illegal Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) and suspected scam hubs in Zamboanga Sibugay and Quezon City.
The group consisted of 62 Chinese nationals apprehended in Zamboanga Sibugay and another 53 arrested at a facility in Cubao, Quezon City, during raids conducted in October.
Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said the deportees were flown back to China on Friday, November 6, aboard a chartered China Southern Airlines flight CZ5308 from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.
Their deportation followed the issuance of summary deportation orders by the BI Board of Commissioners.
Viado said the operation reflects the government’s commitment to holding foreign nationals accountable for their involvement in illegal activities. He added that the bureau would continue strengthening its enforcement efforts and coordination with local and international law enforcement agencies.
The deportations form part of the government’s broader campaign against illegal offshore gaming operations, online scams and other transnational crimes.
Authorities have also intensified investigations into suspected scam networks operating in the country, including efforts to identify their financiers, recruiters and local facilitators.
The BI said it would continue working with partner agencies to prevent foreign nationals from using the Philippines as a base for illicit operations.
