Four people sustained minor injuries after a roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessel tilted while unloading passengers and vehicles at Ungos Port in Real, Quezon, early Friday, October 30.
The vessel had arrived from Polillo Island and was carrying 58 passengers when the incident occurred. Most of the passengers had already disembarked before the ship suddenly leaned to one side.
According to Real Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office chief Ricky Poblete, the vessel’s captain reported that one of its mooring lines snapped, causing the ship to tilt.
The incident happened during the unloading operation, prompting concern among passengers and port personnel.
Authorities reported that four people were injured, although their injuries were described as minor.
The incident is now drawing attention to vessel safety and the precautions needed during passenger and vehicle unloading operations at local ports.
