No Filipino nationals have been reported injured or involved in the recent protests in France and Italy, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Monday, citing updates from Philippine diplomatic posts in both countries.
DFA spokesperson Analyn Ratonel said the Philippine Embassy in Paris and the Philippine Consulate General in Milan had not received reports of Filipinos being affected by the unrest.
The advisory comes after demonstrations and violent clashes were reported in several French cities, including Paris, as well as in parts of Italy. The Philippine Embassy in France has urged Filipinos to avoid protest areas and large gatherings while authorities monitor the situation.
In its safety advisory, the embassy encouraged Filipinos to remain calm, prioritize their personal security, follow local authorities’ instructions and exercise caution when posting or sharing information on social media.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Consulate General in Milan warned Filipinos in northern Italy to exercise extreme caution following reports of clashes in Milan, Bologna, Turin and Bergamo.
The consulate advised the Filipino community to stay away from large crowds, known protest sites and major city squares, particularly during the evening.
Filipinos were also reminded to carry identification, keep their phones charged, maintain contact with family members and monitor official announcements for updates on demonstrations, road closures and public transportation.
The DFA said it continues to rely on reports from Philippine diplomatic missions to monitor the safety of Filipinos overseas as the situation develops.
