Quebec Conservative Party Leader Eric Duhaime has acknowledged using artificial intelligence while preparing his latest book, Destination Autonomie, as the party campaigns ahead of the provincial election.
Duhaime said AI was used mainly to help organize and structure his ideas, while insisting that the book’s political positions and arguments came from him.
The admission followed reports that an AI-detection tool estimated that roughly 62 percent of the book showed signs of being AI-generated, prompting questions about the extent of the technology’s role in its production.
Duhaime also confirmed that his party has used AI in other campaign-related work, including the preparation of charts, the book’s table of contents and the presentation of its financial framework.
He has defended the technology’s use in politics, arguing that AI could help make government operations more efficient and reduce bureaucracy.
The controversy comes as Duhaime’s party campaigns on greater autonomy for Quebec while maintaining the province’s place within the Canadian federation.
