Quebec voters are getting an early chance to cast their ballots as advance polling opens ahead of the provincial election, giving residents an alternative to voting on election day.
The advance polls are taking place as the campaign enters its final stretch, with voters preparing to choose representatives for the National Assembly of Quebec.
The province’s election features candidates from several major parties, including the Coalition Avenir Québec, Parti Québécois, Quebec Liberal Party, Québec solidaire and Conservative Party of Quebec.
Advance voting is intended to give voters more flexibility, particularly those who may be unable to make it to their polling station on election day. Elections Quebec has also provided information on polling locations and voting procedures for eligible voters.
The election campaign has focused on issues including the economy, health care, public services, taxes and Quebec’s political future, with party leaders making their final appeals to voters.
The Parti Québécois has continued to raise the question of Quebec sovereignty, while the other major parties have presented different positions on the province’s future and priorities.
With advance voting now underway, attention turns to voter participation before election day on October 5, when the province’s next government will be determined.
