PASAY, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte’s declared net worth reached P98.66 million in 2025, up from P7.25 million when she first entered elective office in 2007, according to Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth presented before the Senate impeachment court.

The figures were read into the record by lawyer Karen Batu, officer-in-charge of the Office of the Ombudsman’s Central Records Division, during the 25th day of Duterte’s impeachment trial on September 15. The records show an increase of about P91.4 million over 18 years.

Duterte declared P65.31 million in net worth in 2021, her last full year before assuming the vice presidency. Her declared net worth subsequently rose to P71.66 million in 2022, P77.51 million in 2023, P88.51 million in 2024, and P98.66 million in 2025.

Her 2025 SALN was filed jointly with her husband, lawyer Manases “Mans” Carpio. The couple declared P122.8 million in total assets and P24.14 million in liabilities, resulting in the P98.66-million net worth. Their assets included P81.3 million in real properties and P41.48 million in personal properties.

Their 2025 declared net worth was about 11.5 percent higher than the P88.51 million reported for 2024. Two properties were added that year–a condominium unit with a parking slot in San Juan City and a commercial building in Davao City.

The SALNs were presented as prosecutors began presenting evidence under Article II of the impeachment case, which includes allegations of unexplained wealth, inaccurate SALN declarations and continued business interests while Duterte serves as vice president. These remain allegations being examined by the impeachment court.

During cross-examination, Batu clarified that the Ombudsman’s records office does not verify the truthfulness of the assets and liabilities listed in SALNs. Its role as repository includes checking whether the proper forms were used and whether documents were signed, dated and properly filed. She also said she could not determine from her testimony whether Duterte’s SALNs contained irregularities.

The defense also highlighted that official SALN forms do not provide a separate line specifically for cash or a column for the acquisition cost of business interests. Duterte’s legal team has previously said cash was included under the “others” category rather than separately identified as cash on hand or in bank.
