MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala will skip the WTA 1000 China Open to represent the Philippines at the 2026 Asian Games later this month.

Eala said she enjoys competing with the Philippine team and values the experience of representing the country in major regional events.

“I love playing and competing with the Philippine team,” Eala said, adding that the Asian Games only happens once every four years.

Eala previously won bronze medals in women’s singles and mixed doubles at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Before the Asian Games, she is set to compete in the Singapore Open as part of her Asian swing.
