Philippines – For Erin Diaz, turning 25 came with an unexpected birthday surprise, a ₱1-million gift from her father, talent manager Ogie Diaz, for reaching the milestone unmarried and without a child.

The emotional moment was captured in Erin’s vlog, where Ogie handed her a ceremonial check and reminded her that he was simply keeping a promise he had made to his children.

For Ogie, the money was more than a lavish birthday present. It was his way of encouraging his children to enjoy their youth before taking on the responsibilities of marriage and parenthood.

“Gusto ko kasi i-enjoy nila yung kabataan,” Ogie said, explaining why he made the promise in the first place.

Erin, meanwhile, plans to put the money toward her own future, with her father saying she intends to use it as capital for a coffee shop.

The unusual birthday tradition does not end with Erin. Ogie said his other daughters can receive the same ₱1-million reward if they reach 25 without marrying or having children.
