MANILA – The House prosecution panel is eyeing three Armed Forces of the Philippines officials as its next witnesses in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
The possible witnesses were identified at the close of the 17th day of proceedings before the Senate sitting as an impeachment court.
The prosecution is also considering whether to call former OVP security officer Col. Raymund Dante Lachica to testify.
Lachica figured prominently in the testimony of former OVP special disbursing officer Gina Acosta, particularly on the release and utilization of confidential funds.
Acosta said she relied on utilization reports submitted by Lachica despite not personally witnessing the distribution of the funds.
The possible testimony of the AFP officials comes as the prosecution continues to present evidence related to the alleged use of confidential funds under the OVP.
The prosecution has yet to finalize its next witnesses as the impeachment trial against Duterte continues.
