Consul General Emma R. Sarne of the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary joined organizers of the Filipino Canadian Trade Expo and Mission (FCTEM) at the Philippine Trade Expo Canada 2026, held at West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta.

The event brought together Filipino-owned businesses, food vendors, artisans, and fashion and cultural performers under the theme “Habi at Isang Pangako,” featuring a showcase called Gandang Filipina.

Organizers described the expo as a celebration of Filipino entrepreneurship, tourism, culture, and community, with a marketplace offering Filipino cuisine, handcrafted products, and fashion, alongside cultural performances aimed at showcasing Philippine heritage to a wider Canadian audience.

The Philippine Consulate General in Calgary has jurisdiction over Alberta and holds regular community engagements with Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and Filipino-Canadian organizations across the province, including in Edmonton.

FCTEM’s involvement points to continued efforts by Filipino-Canadian business and cultural groups to strengthen trade and cultural ties between the Philippines and Canada, particularly in Alberta, home to one of the country’s larger Filipino communities.
