MANILA – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started repairs of several roads in Metro Manila, taking advantage of the Holy Week break.
In a social media post, the DPWH-National Capital Region (NCR) said repairs have started in Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Manila, Pasig, Valenzuela and Quezon City.
The scheduled road repairs began March 30 and are expected to continue until April 6, 2026.
The rehabilitation works to be conducted are asphalt overlaying, sidewalk improvement, expansion joint, painting of concrete railing, waterproofing, contraction of bridge and link slab, among other repairs to ensure the safety of motorists on roads.
The areas that will be under construction are EDSA Southbound (Magallanes Flyover) and EDSA (Orense to Buendia), Makati City; Rosario Bridge along Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City; MacArthur Highway in Karuhatan, Valenzuela.
In Quezon City, the areas that will have rehab works are: E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue (Mariable Bridge to G. Araneta Avenue); G. Araneta Avenue (Northbound) near E. Rodriguez Sr.; San Juan Bridge (northbound) along G. Araneta Avenue and Lambingan Bridge along G. Araneta Avenue.
Also undergoing construction are Almirante Creek in Las Piñas City and Alabang-Muntinlupa Road, Muntinlupa City.
Meanwhile, the DPWH encouraged the public to follow traffic signs and on-site advisories for smoother traffic flow.
It noted that there will be temporary partial closure in the affected areas, therefore motorists are advised to use alternative routes.
Traffic in Metro Manila is expected to be light as many motorists are expected to be in their provinces for the Holy Week.
