SURREY, British Columbia — The Surrey Philippine Independence Day Society (SPIDS) openly invites the Filipino-Canadian community and allies to a solemn mass on April 24, thoughtfully remembering the first anniversary of the tragic April 26 Lapu-Lapu Festival incident.
The memorial mass will start at 6 p.m. at the Saint Bernadette Parish in Surrey, British Columbia, and will be followed by a thoughtful reception at the church hall. SPIDS advised participants to bring their own dish to share.
According to SPIDS, the mass is an offering for the survivors, families, and communities still affected by the car-ramming tragedy last year, which is largely regarded as an affront to the Filipino-Canadian community.
