Malaysian PM Razak issues conclusive statement about MH370

UPDATE 14:11 AM ET: The Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak just finished issuing a statement about the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

The Prime Minister will deliver his message at the Putra World Trade Center.

CNN’s live coverage of the press conference and live tweets from PM Razak’s official Twitter account was buzzing with spectators.

“This evening I was briefed by representatives from the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB),” said PM Razak.

“Inmarsat, that provided the satellite data which indicated the northern & southern corridors,has performed further calculations… Using a type of analysis never before used in an investigation of this sort,they have been able to shed more light on MH370’s flight path,” the Prime Minister explained.

“Based on their new analysis, Inmarsat & the AAIB concluded that the last position of MH370 was in the middle of the Indian Ocean,” he announced. “With deep sadness and regret I must inform you that, according to this new data, flight #MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean.”

A few minutes before the Prime Minister’s press conference, BBC Live posted a text message that was sent to the families of the passengers aboard flight MH370.

The text message reads, “Malaysia Airlines deeply regrets that we have to assume beyond any reasonable doubt that MH370 has been lost and that none of those on board survived. As you will hear in the next hour from Malaysia’s prime minister, we must now accept all evidence suggests the plane went down in the southern Indian Ocean.”

The message was then confirmed by the Prime Minister’s statements.

PM Najib Razak has scheduled another press conference on Tuesday (March 25th) to give further details about Malaysia Airlines MH370.

The plane, which had been missing since March 8th, was on its way to Beijing, China from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with 12 crew members on board to tend to 227 passengers.
