MANILA – Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon assured on Monday that the agency will implement right-priced infrastructure projects without compromising quality and orderliness in 2026.
In a statement, Dizon said right pricing, quality and fast construction of infrastructure projects is doable.
“It’s possible, the price (of the project) can be right, (the construction) can be fast and quality,” he said.
The DPWH chief cited several projects that were immediately constructed such as the Piggatan Detour Bridge in Alcala, Cagayan which was completed in just 60 days, the repair of the damaged Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City, Cebu, including the installation of tents and smart cities, and the renovation of school buildings in Masbate that were damaged by Typhoon Opong.
At the same time, Dizon said two more structures are set for completion in the coming days.
These are the collapsed section of the Bukidnon-Davao Road (BuDa Road) in Sitio Kipolot, Quezon, Bukidnon which is expected to be completed by Jan. 6, and the still under construction San Juanico Bridge in Tacloban City which has been partially opened to heavy vehicles.
“Our priority now is to be able to replicate what we did during the typhoons, during the earthquakes. That will be our mantra next year and in the years to come,” Dizon said.
This is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure that public structures are well-maintained and durable at the right price.
