MANILA — With the successful implementation of Oplan “Lambat-Sibat” in Metro Manila, the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday announced that it has recorded a crime decrease for the past few weeks.

The PNP Directorate for Investigative and Detective Management (DIDM) has recorded more than 60 percent decrease in crime trend or a total of 345 crime incidents in Metro Manila for the past week (May 4-10) compared to 919 average weekly incidents before the Oplan “Lambat-Sibat” was established in June 2014.

Since the introduction of Oplan “Lambat-Sibat”, murder and homicide, physical injury, robbery, theft, carnapping and mortorcycle-napping has been used as a baseline in identifying the level of criminality in Metro Manila.

“These types of crime are selected because these are the common crimes that affect peace and order in Metro Manila and they reflect the over-all picture of criminal activities in NCR,” PNP spokesperson Senior Supt.

Generoso R. Cerbo Jr., noted a 60 percent overall arrest of most wanted persons in the National Capital Region (NCR).

“Out of 603 wanted persons we captured 356 MWPs for the past 38 weeks. This means that for every 10 wanted persons, six of them are arrested by our competent police operatives,” he stressed.

The Directorate for Intelligence mentioned Northern Police District as the highest district in NCR that captured the most number of MWPs since Oplan Lambat-Sibat started on June 2014 which is 71 percent or 52 out of 73 MWPs in their area of responsibility.
