JERUSALEM – Seven hostages freed in the first wave of releases have arrived in southern Israel, where they are undergoing initial medical assessments, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Monday.

After the medical checkups, the freed captives will be reunited with their families and later transferred to hospitals across Israel for further evaluation.

The seven hostages were identified as Eitan Mor, Guy Gilboa Dalal, Gali and Ziv Berman, Matan Engerst, Omri Miran, and Alon Ohel —all of whom were seen walking on their own upon arrival. Dalal’s name was not included in Hamas’ earlier announcement, which stated that only six individuals would be released in the first wave.

The IDF also confirmed that Red Cross vehicles are en route to a designated meeting point in southern Gaza to receive additional hostages as part of the second round of releases.

In total, 20 living hostages are expected to return to Israel within the next several hours —738 days after being taken captive in Gaza by Hamas.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump arrived in Israel for a brief visit. He was welcomed by Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before proceeding directly to Jerusalem, foregoing the usual fanfare and formal speeches.

Trump is scheduled to meet with Netanyahu and address the Knesset before departing early in the afternoon for Egypt, where he will attend a summit of regional and international leaders to discuss Gaza’s future.
