The Filipino community in Metro Vancouver will be joining global protest actions against corruption in the Philippines especially involving kickbacks in infrastructure projects. The exposure of payoffs to politicians by contractors of projects have roused heightened protests in the Philippines amid worsening poverty and forced migration.

The protests will be held on the commemoration of the 53rd anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines by the late father and namesake of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. The late dictator imposed Martial Law on September 21, 1972 to quell rising protests including against corruption.
