MANILA – The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) advised the public to refrain from dealing with individuals or entities that falsely claim to be affiliated with or supervised by the BSP.
“The BSP reminds the public that its personnel will not extend loans, solicit money, nor ask any information that may compromise financial accounts of financial consumers,” the central bank said in an advisory Wednesday.
The BSP said it does not offer or hold deposit accounts for individual persons.
It added that it does not participate in any transaction between private individuals.
To confirm the authenticity of individuals or entities presenting themselves to be connected with the central bank or to report their illegal or fraudulent activities, the BSP encourages the public to call (+632) 8811-1277 or 8811-1BSP or send an email to bspmail@bsp.gov.ph.
