MANILA – Vice Mayor Romulo Pena will not yield his post as Makati City’s ‘acting mayor’ despite the issuance of a writ of preliminary injunction of the Court of Appeals on Monday.

“I already consulted the Ombudsman and the DILG about it and I am still waiting for their directive,” Peña said.

The Vice Mayor added that he will continue his duties as Makati’s acting mayor until the Supreme Court come up with a decision on the Ombudsman suspension order on Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr.

“Therefore, as far as I am concerned, up to the point that they will give me a directive, I will stay as acting mayor,” he added saying he will wait for the Ombudsman’s directive.

“We are after the welfare of the constituents and I do not want to be a hindrance. I just want to stand firm on what should really be the process,” he added.

Binay earlier called on Pena to sign the payroll of the city hall employees.

Pena, however said that since he is the acting mayor, it is no longer his duties to sign the documents.

“Since I assumed (office) as acting mayor, the highest ranking city councilor should assume my post as vice mayor.
