ROME – Pope Francis’s condition continues to improve as he recovers from bilateral pneumonia, the Vatican announced Friday.
The 88-year-old pontiff, who was discharged from Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on March 23 after a 38-day stay, has begun what is expected to be a two-month period of convalescence.
According to the Vatican Press Office, Francis is experiencing gradual improvements in his breathing, mobility, and voice.
Blood tests also show slight progress in treating his pulmonary infection.
He continues to undergo treatment and physical therapy focused on respiratory and mobility support, and he now requires less supplemental oxygen.
Despite his health challenges, the Pope remains in good spirits and is continuing his work, the Vatican said. (ANSA)
