MANILA – The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) on Friday introduced promotional lower rates for domestic and international tracked or registered mail services, including its express mail service.
This aims to boost its market position and to make the service more economical for the public, giving more value for their money.
PHLPost Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer Luis Carlos said the new rates of their courier services are more affordable compared to current market prices.
“This new promotion, which significantly reduced the rates of our domestic and International Mail Services, is part of our commitment to better serve our customers and contribute to Filipino communities’ economic well-being,” Carlos said in a press release.
He noted the public “had long been disadvantaged” due to rising courier rates from privately-operated courier services.
“Now, with these new promo rates, we offer them a better choice — one that will enable them to fulfill their mailing needs at a fraction of the cost,” he said.
The new applicable rates shall be based on the volumetric weight of the mail and packages.
They vary depending on the delivery areas or regions, far away cities and populated areas including those difficult to reach.
A domestic tracked item mailed and for delivery within the National Capital Region is only PHP25 for the first 50 grams.
Carlos said PHLPost’s promotional rates for international mail service are the lowest in the market.
“For example, sending a 1.5 kilogram ordinary mail to Japan will cost only PHP1,680, while sending the same to Singapore will cost PHP1,254. If you’re sending it to Australia, it will cost only PHP1,870. The rate to Canada is PHP2,291, to the United Kingdom it is PHP1,823, and to the United States, it is PHP2,250,” he said.
“Even with the new rates, we assure the public that their mail and packages will be handled with the efficiency and highest standards of service,” he added.
The complete list of promotional lower rates for international mail services may be accessed through PHLPost’s website.
Meanwhile, the rate for domestic ordinary mail (non-trackable items) is still subject to the approval of the Department of Information and Communications Technology on the increase of postage rate.
