Palace to let legal process take its course on charges vs. VP Sara

MANILA – Malacañang on Thursday said it will let the legal process to take its course regarding the grave threats and inciting to sedition charges against Vice President Sara Duterte.

In an interview, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said the Palace would not intervene in the ongoing criminal investigation.

“We are aware of that, but we are going to let the process proceed on its own,” Bersamin told reporters.

“Because this is about a criminal investigation, the Department of Justice (DOJ) will have the fullest autonomy.

We cannot give directions as far as these matters go,” he added.

“We will leave that into the hands of the investigators. This process will go through the full course,” the former chief magistrate went on.

On Wednesday, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed grave threats and inciting to sedition charges against Duterte before the DOJ.

The charges were in connection with Duterte’s claims that she has hired someone to kill President Ferdinand R.

Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez if the supposed assassination plot against her were to succeed.
