MANILA – The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday led the oath-taking ceremony for Bar passers at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

A total of 3,962 individuals passed the recent examinations, but only 3,942 attended, according to the SC.

Supreme Court Associate Justice Amy Lazaro-Javier, the incoming chairperson for the 2025 Bar Examinations, reminded the barristers to center their legal careers on humility, honor, and humanity.

“It should not be the title that defines the person, but the person who must define the title,” she said, adding that young lawyers should prioritize being good human beings above all else.

Lazaro-Javier stressed that good lawyers worthy of respect do not brag and should treat everyone with kindness, no matter their status.

While acknowledging the inevitability of challenges, she encouraged the new lawyers to “gather your strength and rise” should they fall down.

“Tread on life lightly. Problems will pass, but how you make others feel will stay with them.

Look good to feel good, be kind, and live an honorable life,” she said.

“Being a good lawyer starts with being a good person.
