New Trump administration shuts down border app

WASHINGTON – The new US administration under Donald Trump shut down on Monday a mobile app for migrants to make appointments at the US-Mexico border.

“Effective January 20, 2025, the functionalities of CBP One™ that previously allowed undocumented aliens to submit advance information and schedule appointments at eight southwest border ports of entry is no longer available, and existing appointments have been cancelled,” according to a notice on the Customs and Border Protection website.

The app grants migrants access to a variety of services, including checking border wait times and applying for a provisional I-94 entry, among other features.

The shutdown, which came on the day of Trump’s inauguration, is part of a series of moves to crack down on migration at the border.

In remarks at the Capitol Rotunda, Trump said he would sign executive orders, including actions that will crack down on migration, an emergency declaration along the US-Mexican border and immigration raids across the country.

Trump is expected to sign 10 executive orders related to the border.
