MANILA — An unidentified companion of Ed Sheeran apologized to immigration personnel after calling Filipino fans “monkeys.”

Sheeran arrived in Manila for his sold-out concert at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The airport authority provided security to Sheeran and his team for the easy facilitation through immigration and customs.

His companion, however, prevented other passengers, journalists and other airline personnel from taking photos of Sheeran without permission while inside the Bureau of Immigration.

He also shouted and called some of the Filipino fans “monkeys.”

Several officers from the immigration confronted the companion and demanded that he stop making discriminating remarks.

The companion was also reminded that he can be barred from entering the country because of it.
