Gov’t lines up P1.39 trillion worth of infra projects

MANILA — A total of P1.39 trillion ($31.42 billion) worth of infrastructure programs and projects was lined up by the government.

“Infrastructure development is critical in the growth and competitiveness of the country and its major sectors,” Economic Planning Secretary Arsenio M.

Balisacan said during the Philippine Infrastructure Development Seminar yesterday.

The line-up will include 97 projects of which are bulk, or 81 are critical infrastructure program and projects with a total of P1.

24 trillion ($28.05 billion).

To complete the line-up, physical framework plans which will cover major areas in the country will be added.

The plans include the Roadmap for Transport Infrastructure Development for Metro Manila and Its Surrounding Areas with assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

“We will complete the framework plans for Visayas and Mindanao in the next two years,” Balisacan pointed out.
