MANILA  — Another rail accident at the Metro Rail Transit Line-3 (MRT-3) on Tuesday morning has the management thinking of adding more hand straps as an added safety precaution while repairs remain underway.

Two MRT-3 coaches reportedly made sudden stops near Santolan station south-bound at around 9:30 am, causing passengers to fall onto each other in a “domino effect.”

It was not clear whether there were passengers hurt.

Although little detail was given on the incident as of posting time, management said that it was a “technical problem” that caused the halt.

Passengers in turn, had to get off at Santolan station. Normal operations at the MRT-3 resumed at around 11:30 am.

Reports showed that before the glitch, there were 15 trains that were operating during the morning peak hours.

Buenafe however assured that management was doing everything to prevent further mishaps such as adding hand straps so passengers have something to hold to stay in place.
