Heart Evangelista and Senator Chiz Escudero

MANILA — Days before his wedding to actress Heart Evangelista, Senator Chiz Escudero, talks about love and marriage, in an interview for the pilot episode of “3 in 1” Tuesday.

Following his annulment with his former wife, Christine Flores, Escudero was asked why he believed that his marriage with Evangelista will last.

“Una sa lahat, lahat ng kinakasal… Wala namang 100 porsyento,” he said. “Bahagi ‘yon ng pag-aalam na tunay na mahal mo dahil hindi ka sigurado. Kung sigurado ka, hindi mo kailangan mahalin.

(There is not a hundred percent guarantee (that the marriage will last). Being unsure is a  part of knowing if tou really love the person. If you’re sure enough, you don’t need to love anymore.)

“Sigurado kang uubra, eh, siguro kang tatagal, sigurado ka sa lahat. E ‘di walang reason kung walang panganib na hindi gumanda ang resulta.”

(Because you’re sure that it’s going to work, its going to last, you’re sure about everything. Thus, there’s no reason to fear that the result will be unfavorable.)

Escudero said that despite his previous marriage, he feels like he is getting married for the first time.

Meanwhile, when asked about the things he considers as “faults” in his past relationships, Escudero said:

“Palaging meron. Pangunahin na siguro, hindi ako pinalaking sweet o affectionate.”

(Those things (faults) are always present. One of the major “faults” is that I wasn’t raised sweet or affectionate.
